FIFA, the Fédération Internationale de Football Association, was founded on May 21, 1904. The organization was established by representatives from the national football associations of Belgium, Denmark, France, the Netherlands, Spain, Sweden, and Switzerland. The inaugural meeting took place in Paris, France, where the decision was made to create an international governing body for football. Robert Guérin, a Frenchman, was elected as FIFA's first president, serving from 1904 to 1906. Since then, FIFA has grown to become the highest governing body for football globally, overseeing and regulating the sport at the international level.
